Background

The purpose of this project was to create a water bottle rocket out of laser cut and 3d printed components. The programs ACAD and 3DS MAX were used for this project and a 3D printing software was used to print the componets made in those programs. We worked in groups for this project. I worked in a group with Tobias and Grace Van Dyke. My job in this project was to create the cone. Tobias made the wings, and Grace made the cap for the launcher. We first collaborated about the rocket design then went ot work each working on ou seperate components. I began with creating the cone for the rocket. I used the progam ACAD to do this. First, a triangle was created with its base as the same measure as the diameter of the soda bottle that we used as the body for the rocket. I then created serveral smaller lines on the triangle and copied on of these lines. I then created and arc around the copied line. I then cu tout certain parts of the arc to form the cone. A cut line was then added and the component was printed. Tobias then glued the cone together. Grace and Tobias also printed their componets and we prepared the rock for assembling. After asembling, we went outside and launched the rocket. Overall, I thought this project was great and fun and hope to do another project like this in the future.
